Hyundai Australia is recalling more than 5000 examples of its i30 sedan over a fault with the seatbelts.

In total 5211 model year 2020-2022 cars are under recall due to a manufacturing issue which means the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator may fracture when deployed in the event of a crash.

If this happens, metal fragments may be propelled at high speed towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury.
