Fiat's performance arm Abarth has launched a limited-run edition of its 595 city car in Australia with the release of the new Scorpioneoro.

A homage to the A112 Abarth Gold Ring, of which only 150 were produced, the Scorpioneoro is limited to just 2000 units worldwide – with only 30 of those landing in Australia, each sporting a gold plate with the car's build number.

Featuring the 1.4-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the donor 595, power and torque levels are bumped up to 121kW/230Nm, a 14kW/24Nm increase over the 595 but 11kW/20Nm less than the 595 Competizione which is the range-topping variant.

Based on the standard 595, the Scorpioneoro is only available in black but features gold highlights on its scorpion bonnet decal, side stripes and 17-inch wheels, as well as tar cold gray door handles, side mirrors and bumpers, with the roof covered in a matte black chequered flag.

Inside the cabin, special leather Scorpionflage sports seats are embroidered with the car's trim name and Italian flag colours on the head rests, teaming up with a matte black dash and a Beats audio system to differentiate it from the standard car.

Available now, prices for the Scorpioneoro start at $31,450 for the five-speed manual, while the five-speed single-clutch automatic gearbox is available as a $2150 option, both delivering power to the front wheels.
