BMW Australia has announced a new Sports Collection set to bolster its 2022 model line-up, adding entry-level variants to the 1 Series, 2 Series and 3 Series range.

Dropping below the BMW M Sport grades across the three models, the Sport variant sees a reduction in standard equipment in exchange for reduced prices, with the cuts ranging from roughly $1700 to $6000.

For the 118i and 218i Gran Coupé Sport, the new variants sacrifice their standard 18-inch wheels for smaller 17-inch alloys, also scoring a different Sensatec upholstery pattern on their sports seats and headlining – as well as losing out on the previously standard LED front fog lights.

In 3 Series guise, the Sport grade is available to order on both the 320i and 330e plug-in hybrid, as both now ride on 18-inch wheels (down from 19-inches) with a six-speaker sound system in place of the 10-speaker setup found in higher grades.

Partial leather seats are a step down from those found in the M Sport and Luxury grades, however the biggest cut has been given to its adaptive cruise control and lane centring systems, both of which aren't available in Sport trim.

A large amount of features are still available on the Sport variants, with BMW's live cockpit professional system, parking assistant and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto among the equipment which remains.
