  • Refreshed S60/V60 Cross Country to go on sale around July
  • Tech updates and minor visual changes to come
  • Combined sales less than 100 units for 2022

Volvo will look to introduce a mid-life update to its S60 and V60 Cross Country in the middle of the year, bringing mild tweaks to the sedan and wagon.

The most notable change is the inclusion of Google's Android Automotive infotainment system, still on Volvo's 9.0-inch vertically-oriented screen but now featuring integrated connectivity without the need for a smartphone.

Although this comes at the cost of Apple CarPlay, the system now allows for native functions such as maps, voice assistant and Google's app store.

On top of this, a host of minor visual changes will also come, with each model's exhaust pipe now hidden behind the rear bumper, while certain overseas grades score new design wheels and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox – however, this is only available on the B3 and B4, neither of which are sold locally.

Australian-delivered models will retain the current 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which features across both the S60 and V60 Cross Country ranges, all of which are mated to an eight-speed conventional automatic transmission with on-demand all-wheel drive.

The internal-combustion engine in Australian models is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, producing combined outputs of 183kW and 350Nm with a claimed combined fuel economy of 7.4L/100km in V60 Cross Country guise.

Year to date, Volvo has shifted just 44 S60s and 25 examples of the V60 Cross Country – both considerably less than the popular SUV range which includes the XC40 (817 units), XC60 (573 units) and XC90 (121 units).

The first locally-delivered examples of the 2024 refresh are expected to arrive around July this year, barring any stock delays.

Further pricing and features will be announced closer to launch.
