Hyundai i20 N, i30 Sedan N and Kona N gain updated Track Maps with extra Aussie circuits

Owners of Hyundai N performance vehicles can now access an updated Track Maps feature that covers 16 race circuits nationwide.

N Track Maps was introduced on the Kona N SUV in late 2021, allowing the driver to record lap times automatically via a dedicated widget on the central touchscreen.

Initially limited to Sydney Motorsport Park, the update now adds other famous Australian racetracks including Hidden Valley (Northern Territory), Symmons Plains Raceway (Tasmania), Queensland Raceway, and The Bend (South Australia).

The only obvious omission on the list is Victoria’s Phillip Island.

Hyundai’s updated N Track Maps feature is now available for download for the i20 N compact hatchback, i30 Sedan N, and Kona N. The update is not available for the i30 N hot-hatch, which was the company’s first N model in 2017 and features older hardware.

N Track Maps also caters for the multiple, smaller circuit layouts where available at main racetracks.

The widget engages when the vehicle approaches the vicinity of one of the supported tracks.

Hyundai Australia spent months taking one of its N cars to each of the tracks – and sub-circuits – to perform multiple laps so it could data capture GPS locations, measuring the extremities of track limits and noting start-finish lines.

Track Maps shows the position of an N vehicle on the track on the multimedia screen, and it automatically starts the lap timer – also shown in the driver display – every time the car crosses the start-finish line. All lap times are logged.

Owners can download the updated Track Maps software for free online at update.hyundai.com. The update can be simply downloaded onto a USB device that is then uploaded into the N vehicle’s navigation/multimedia system.
