After a new Subaru, but not sure how long you'll have to wait?

Issues such as semiconductor chip shortages, shipping problems and sickness and isolation have affected the ability of manufacturers like Subaru to keep their production lines going over the last two years.

As such, all of the Japanese brand's models are currently experiencing some delays.

However, some models are in greater supply than others, with flexibility around powertrains, specification and vehicle colour likely to see a vehicle in your driveway sooner.

Overall, according to Price My Car, the average wait time for a Subaru is now 108 days – compared to 90 days in January 2022.

The WRX sedan and wagon, Forester, Outback, Impreza and XV have a wait of around four months. However, Subaru says there are delays on the Forester Hybrid and Outback XT variants of more like six months.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the worst affected is the brand's BRZ sports coupe, which has a wait of five months.

A spokesperson for Subaru told us: "Subaru Australia continues to work closely with Subaru Corporation to deliver vehicles to customers as soon as possible.

"Delivery timeframes for customer orders can vary for a variety of reasons (including model, colour and variant preferences), however, currently some Subaru Forester, Outback, WRX and XV customers may experience a delivery wait of up to four months, with the exception of Subaru Forester Hybrid and Outback XT, which may see some customers experience a delivery wait of up to six months.

"Due to recent production secured from Subaru Corporation, there is currently some Subaru Forester and Outback stock (depending on variant and colour) available for customer delivery before Christmas.

"Additionally, some BRZ customers may experience a delivery wait of up to five months, and currently Impreza has a maximum wait time of four months.

"As always, customers are encouraged to speak with their local Subaru Retailer who are best placed to advise delivery timeframes for specific orders."
