All fifth-generation Toyota Supras sold in Australia have been placed under recall, owing to a potential vacuum pump issue in the car's braking system.

Affecting 675 vehicles built between 2019 and 2021, the fault stems from the brake booster's vacuum pump potentially being damaged under specific engine start conditions, triggered by the engine management software.

This could lead to a reduction in braking performance, which increases the risk of an incident – potentially harming occupants and other road users.

Toyota has said it is currently contacting known owners to make an appointment at their nearest Toyota dealer to rectify the problem, free of charge.

Customers can also contact Toyota's recall assist helpline on 1800 987 366 or email recallsupport@toyota.dataresponse.com.au for more information.
